Packaged well and the wrapped in tissue paper inside the box to absorb any extra oil. Beautiful teak cutting board that I look forward to using when company comes over, or maybe to replace my older boards. I have been using the same mini plastic cutting boards (one for fruit and one for veggies) for close to 20 years no and I'm looking forward using this beautiful cutting board. I love that this is made in a way that both sides are intended to be used and there are dips carved into the sides as handles (a bit small though). One side has an edge to catch liquids from runoff and the other side is flat. Everything is very smooth and no fear of splinters.
This is a nice heavy cutting board that will look fine on your countertop. Being heavy, I found it to easily stay in place while working. The groove around the top, easily catches any runoff before it hits the countertop. Grab handles on both sides make it super easy to pick up and carry when you need to move your food around. The board looks really nice and the finish is generally pretty nice. There are small areas where the blocks are glued where it looks like some “stain” is missing, but I know that once I oil the board, everything will blend in nicely. I like that this is a wood board so that it will not dull my fine knives like the boards made of other materials like plastics. If you want this board to last, it is best to oil it once in awhile. Do NOT use vegetable oils as they will smell over time as the oil turns rancid. Go to your neighborhood pharmacy and buy Mineral Oil and periodically clean and oil the board. Any rough spots can be sanded out with fine sandpaper, and then re-oil the board. With proper maintenance, this board will last for many years. This is a fine quality piece of wood and I am very pleased with it.
Heavy, feels nice
This is a beautiful, well made cutting board with a lot of heft. I bought this to replace a plastic cutting board which undoubtedly shed plastic particles into the food. This particular teak cutting board is exceeding my expectations with no downsides.
Teak wood is considered to be one of the best woods to use for cutting boards for the many desirable qualities it possesses, like its hardness, oiliness, and water resistance. Coupling those qualities with the knife edge friendly end grain construction makes for a pretty nice board in terms of both function and aesthetics. It is solid, well constructed, weighs in at a healthy 6 lbs and 3 oz, and is an excellent value compared to similar boards I have seen online.
I have to say, I'm thoroughly impressed with its exceptional quality and functionality. First of all, the teak wood used in the board is of the highest quality and has a beautiful, rich brown color with unique patterns that make each board a true work of art. The natural patterns and grains in the wood add to the overall beauty of the board and make it a stunning addition to any kitchen. In addition to its beauty, this cutting board is also incredibly functional. It is substantial and sturdy, measuring around 1.5 inches in thickness, providing excellent durability and stability while using it. The end-grain construction of the board further adds to its durability and stability, making it more resistant to scratches and marks from knives. Another standout feature of this board is the juice groove around the perimeter, which helps to catch any liquids or juices from the food I'm cutting, preventing mess and spills on my counter. I also appreciate the hand grip on the side of the board, which makes it easy to carry and move around as needed. Cleaning and maintaining this cutting board is incredibly easy, too. The teak wood is naturally resistant to stains and odors, so I don't have to worry about it absorbing any food smells or flavors. I can simply wash it with warm, soapy water and let it air dry. Overall, the Teak Wood End Grain Cutting Board is a fantastic addition to any kitchen. The quality and beauty of the teak wood, along with its substantial thickness and end-grain construction, make it an outstanding choice for anyone looking for a long-lasting, functional, and beautiful cutting board. I would highly recommend this cutting board to anyone looking for a durable, long-lasting, and beautiful wooden cutting board for their kitchen. It is definitely worth the investment!
This is a mid sized cutting board. It feels well made. It has an interesting pattern from the pieces of wood used to create the board. I haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, but it feels like it will hold up to frequent use, provided you don't do something stupid and put it in the dishwasher. (Speaking from experience, I lost a very nice cutting board when someone tried to help out during a party...) The board has convenient cut aways to pick it up, plus a channel to catch any liquids. Very nice board overall.
I would give this cutting board 10 stars if I could. First of all, it's made of end grain wood. Normally that means you have a checkerboard kind of design because it's a lot of small blocks glued together. You have to look really close to find the checkerboard on this cutting board! The blocks are assembled in such a way that I see a pattern of swirls of various colors ranging from a very dark reddish brown to an almost tan color. It's beautiful! One side has a deep groove running around the edge for catching excess juices or other liquids; the reverse is perfectly smooth. There are grooves that act as hand-holds on two edges. Very convenient. I think I let the word "small" in the description influence me because even though the dimensions are clearly stated, I was expecting something much smaller. This board is a nice size for just about anything I can think of. I've never had such a pretty cutting board. I look forward to a long and happy life with it.
I love the way it looks on my counter and I treated right away.
Looks awesome, heavy, solid wood. I oiled it as instructed and it soaked it up. I see no evidence that it will warp or crack if properly cared for. I’ve used it for about 10 days now and see no knife marks at all. And it does feel gentle on my knifes, as I wanted. The small size is as big as I’d ever need. I wish they had a mini size too.
This is my first butcher block I have ever owned and I just absolutely love this one!! Put together wonderfully and easy to maintain, clean and use.
Not worth it
This thing is so pretty you don't even want to cut on it. This is a beautifully crafted teak cutting board that is solid and has some weight to it. For a small cutting board it is big enough for most thing my wife and I are cutting up. The juice channel is a nice tough and the channel is fairly deep and will hold a fair amount. We have use this a couple of time and it is as perfect as the day we opened this gem. I cannot say enough great things about the design and quality of this cutting board. Thick and solid you cannot go wrong with this cutting board. Great quality and look.
This teak end grain cutting board is what I have been looking for for years. I've been dealing with plastic boards, the kind you use a few times until they look like a cat used them for a scratching post, then need to toss to make sure you're keeping sanitary. I've always wanted an end grain board; easier on blades, and the colors of the grain pattern are absolutely stunning. This board fits the bill perfectly. The handles are a lifesaver given the heft of the board, and the juice channel is a great feature. The board does come a bit over-oiled, which is expected and explained in the product description. I gave it a nice wash, oiled it up, and it's been adding beauty and function to my kitchen since. Just don't be alarmed if you take it out and the paper it's wrapped in looks wet - that's just a sign that they packed it well so the wood wouldn't dry out in storage! This board is HEAVY and large, so make sure you have plenty of room in the sink (and don't mind setting it down in the sink) to wash it. I'm really enjoying this product and am happy to recommend it.
Overall a decent end grain cutting board that can be used daily and should last for years with proper care Pros: -Thick, heavy, and will last a long time with proper care -Deep juice groove -Indent handles on each side -Only has an oil finish rather than a lacquer Cons: -Slight uneven warp to board that allows it to move on countertop easier than a board of this weight should -Board has rough spots that should have been better sanded (easy enough to fix with a hand sander) -End grain block sizes are very inconsistent (only affects aesthetic) This cutting board is one that I now like using daily. The only thing that makes me take 1 star off is that the board I got has a concave bend to it. If using the side with the juice groove, the board slides on the kitchen counter which is not safe when cutting large veggies. If I flip the board over for those items it works fine and the thickness and weight of the board don’t let it move on the countertop. In the end I’d still recommend this board as others I have tried have similar issues and are of general lower quality than this one. Hopefully the board you get will be more flat than mine.
This is great quality cutting board. It is flat and even-no wobble and has no rough edges. The hand holds on the end are nice for picking the board off of the counter. I really like that it has one plain side and one side with the groove along the outer edge so you can use it for whatever you like. It has a nice weight-heavy enough to stay put without being cumbersome to move and store. The end grain teak is simply beautiful! The one I received has a bit of discoloration on one of the wood pieces, but it is barely noticeable and usually covered by food anyways. It comes packed nicely to protect from nicks and scratches during shipping. A great find for the price!
