I thought I would try a teak cutting board and am sorry that I did. The smell that emanates from this cutting board is nauseating and overpowering. No doubt that smell leaches into the food that you are cutting. Skip this and get a hard maple or walnut cutting board.

Despite being advertised on quality cooking and made of quality wood, it is a sorry excuse for a cutting board. The wood is not sanded or boded correctly, so the minute you rinse it off, the uneven grains of wood which need to be sanded down and oiled to stay smooth. You will need to do this every time you want to use it to maintain a smooth cutting surface. Don't waste your money.

Very disappointing. After oiling the board every three months, the wood is already splitting.

I use this teak cutting board on my butcher's block which heightens it so the work load is much nicer and pleasant to work with. The teak is lovely to look at and a real pleasure to cut on. I truly enjoy this piece of wood and find it enhances my kitchen operation.

We did a lot of research when shopping for a good cutting board. We had all of our concerns in mind- size, weight, color, type of wood, spill guard, raised and price. Without spending three times as much for something that isn’t “forever” this was it. This wasn’t our first and won’t be our last cutting board. But for what we needed and where we are in our life right now, it’s perfect. It sits out on our countertop 24/7 and is the everyday board. We added pegs to raise it off the counter, as it sits by the sink. No splinters at all, it’s smooth and we take care of it by washing it and oiling it with food grade wood oil. It looks beautiful afterwards. This is it after a few days of the oil on there, not washed, it’s only been used to slice some bread.

I have an 30 year old wood board that's still going strong, but its just never been as big as Id like. So I picked up this board and Im very happy. Its well made and cleans up well with no lingering smells. Its harder than my old board, but its not hard and abrasive like bamboo so my knives are happy. Ive mineral oiled/waxed it overnight and its looks great and should help protect it. I would advise anyone buying a wood board to do the same, and then just give it a rub down as needed, or at least once a month... and let the oil "soak" for 30 mins. Heck, if you at least wipe it down with mineral oil/wax once a month it will probably be OK, but dont leave it go untreated or it will eventually delaminate and warp. It is darker than most boards, but I like it. Its not the same old same old...

Can't recommend this cutting board even though I wanted to. Got this as a gift for Christmas and the board came un-finished. It hasn't been sanded and there are flecks and splinters of wood that stand up on the surface. The surface is very rough. Amazed for a +$100 board that they wouldn't make sure the quality of the board is there. Definitely recommend looking at other boards or plan on sanding this yourself before use.

I bought this to replace my old bamboo cutting board that my son took. This one is so beautiful. I was kinda bummed that Costco only offers the Xl for $50 but it’s to large for my apartment counter. So I got the large size at double the price but it really is beautiful and hopefully my other child doesn’t take this one. Lol

Love this board! Just as ATK said. Very little oil needed and wood holds up to sharp knives so much better than all the others. So worth the $ the color striation are gorgeous and the XL size make it work so for large chopping/ slicing needs. No smells left when washed with cold soap water, even after 2.5 pound of onion

The board itself is great, however I was disappointed by the state that it was actually shipped in. The wood was had rough edges all around the surfaces, including the cutting surface. It didn't seem enough to actually give you a splinter, but running my hands across the surface it was extremely noticeable. An acquaintance of mine who bought the exact same board also had the same problem. It's not a massive deal because all you have to do is sand it with some paper and it will be good as new, but the quality control needs some work.

This teak isn't like the dense, oily teak used in furniture. It appears to be only sanded to the point where there's no remaining splinters, but well short of smoothness. When it arrived yesterday, I immediately gave it a soapy wash and rinse and prepared dinner. Then I rinsed it again and stood it on its end to dry. It warped a little. When it was dry, I took out the evoo to oil it up. The board felt rough at first. As I rubbed the oil in, I noticed the cloth picking up what appears to be sawdust. I spent about half an hour scrubbing hard before I got it all off. I'm left with the question: "Do they fail to remove the sanding dust before adding their oil?"

Looks great and size is perfect for my counter! I ordered the 15” x 20” x 1.5” size. Just know it’s best to season the board with mineral oil and or a wax mineral oil combination before use. Look online for instructions from America’s best test kitchen. My cutting board in the photos have not yet been seasoned. I purchased a Boos brand 2-piece Care Set 16 Oz mystery oil & 5 oz Block board cream $25.95. No sponge, just use a cloth to apply the wax. PROs 1. No Feet/2 Sided. One side with juice groove to catch juices, for cutting meats or juicy fruits, watermelon. The other for cutting, chopping vegetables or non-juicy items. 2. America’s Test Kitchen Winner – Teak wood. 3. No More Plastic Cutting Boards. Plastic shavings or dust can get in your food and be ingested and PFAS causes health concerns CONs: 1. Maintenance.& Cleaning To avoid cracking wars and an optimal cutting surface, I plan to wax my board at least once a month regular maintenance. 2. Cleaning.. Be sure to wash both sides of the board and dry thoroughly as to not cause any warping on one side or the other. Then always store it standing on its side with good ventilation away from heat. In Conclusion: This teak board is moisture and mold resistant and looks beautiful. I did a lot of research and my first choice was the-more expensive, but worth it Larchwood maple, end grain cutting board from Larchwood Canada. I recommend you buy this teahouse cutting board. It comes in various sizes and makes a beautiful and healthy way to prepare all your foods. Good health and joy!

Just came in today and looks great. No cracks or dents like others mentioned but it does have a slight rock to it. It's not a 100% flat but if you put a damp cloth underneath to keep it from sliding it also keeps it from rocking.

Ordered the medium size thin cutting board. It weighs 5 lbs and that's a little heavier than I would have wanted. But I can manage that. The wood adds a beautiful natural look to my white-on-white kitchen and makes me happy.

VERY NICE CHOPPING BOARD. SHOULD LAST A LIFETIME. JUST WISH IT COULD BE SEALED TO NOT ABSORB UNWANTED LEFTOVERS.

So far so good - I have to give it a year or two to see if it cracks. Based on present performance it is fine. I was a bit hesitant about the large size, but this is in fact wonderful - no more scrunching stuff into a corner, of stuff falling off - there is agerage of space available - even for a glass of wine. It does slip about a bit; once I have determined which side is up - do I want the drainage grooves (handy but harder to clean) or the flat board, I will stick some rubber tabs on the bottom - the types that prevent your cupboard doors from slamming.
